Another great book we're listing from Eerdmans, "Eat This Book" by Eugene H. Peterson discusses a method to not just read the bible but to actually use it to help your relationship with God. It discusses the nature of scripture and how theology is taken out of it. It is a book that explains examples of taking God's word and not just reading it, but interoperating it and living it. "Eat this Book" is a very highly recommended book for any theologian.
