A Brother's Rivalry

"Cutting For Stone" by Abraham Veghese is a story of twin brothers born from the love of an Indian nun and a British doctor. They become orphaned by the death of their mother (during childbirth) and their father's disappearance. The twins both have a fascination with the practice of medicine. The brothers become adversaries as both fall in love with the same woman. One of the brothers flees to the United States to try to start a new life. The past comes back to haunt him in the form of both his brother and his father. A Gripping Story of WWII

Laura Hillenbrand’s book “Unbroken: A World War II Story of  Survival, Resilience, and Redemption” is about Louis Zamperini – an Olympian and a soldier. This book tells the story of his rise as a track star, to being shot down over the Pacific, to his time captured by Japan as a POW. “Unbroken” shows this non-fiction story in a way that keeps you interested in the events. It also doesn’t hold back in its description of the war in the Pacific or the POW camps. If you are interested in World War II history, this is a must read!
